Cocaine Rehab Costs and Paying for Treatment
As much as a person may need cocaine rehab, the costs involved with getting needed treatment can seem overwhelming. More oftentimes than not, someone coming off of a cocaine addiction is left with limited resources and little if any money.
The overall cost for cocaine rehab can vary depending on how severe a person’s addiction has become. Where one person may only require ongoing therapy and 12-Step meetings, another may need long-term, in depth care at the outset.
Fortunately, there are financial assistance options available to help people get the type of treatment they need. In the long run, taking the steps necessary to break cocaine’s hold on a person’s life is worth the time and effort involved.
Rehab Costs
When considering the costs involved with cocaine rehab, it helps to keep in mind the overall goal for entering rehab in the first place. Addiction affects a person, both physically and psychologically so any type of treatment program you’re considering should include both types of treatment. Failing to get the type of treatment a person needs ultimately wastes any money spent and puts that person right back where he or she started.
Cocaine rehab programs differ in the following ways:
- Types of services offered
- The type of treatment setting or environment
- The length of treatment
As everyone enters treatment with their own set of circumstances, certain programs offering special services, such as job training or prenatal care may work best for people who have specific needs.
Inpatient, Residential and Outpatient Costs
Cocaine rehab costs can vary considerably across different programs and facilities. Inpatient programs often involve 24-hour monitoring of a person through the detox and aftercare phases of treatment so these programs can be expensive. Both short-term and long-term residential treatment programs provide housing as well as ongoing therapy and group supports. Costs for residential cocaine rehab can easily run hundreds of dollars a week.
Outpatient programs tend to be the least expensive since these facilities only offer day program activities, such as individual and group therapy support. While outpatient cocaine rehab costs generally run lower than inpatient programs, outpatient care can last for months or even years. Depending on the type of treatment needed, outpatient care may end up costing more than an inpatient program.
Financial Assistance Options
As drug addiction has reached epidemic proportions in the U.S., federal and state authorities recognize the need for offering effective and affordable treatment to those with limited resources. According to Columbia University’s “Go Ask Alice” resource site, there are at least three assistance options for cocaine rehab:
- Voucher programs
- State and federally-funded facilities
- Clinical trials
Many state community health centers offer vouchers for drug treatment purposes. In effect, the vouchers actually pay for treatment costs. State and federally-funded options include drug treatment facilities that receive state and federal funding. These facilities may offer a sliding fee scale as well as accept Medicaid and Medicare insurance. Clinical trial options offer free treatment in exchange for trying out new therapy approaches and medication treatments.
One other option to consider is any existing health insurance coverage. Many health insurance plans include coverage for drug treatment costs; especially employer-sponsored plans.
